FUN FACTS ABOUT BEER

Anheuser-Busch is the world's largest brewer, operating 14 breweries, 12 in the United States and two overseas. The company currently brews approximately 30 beers for sale in the United States. Here is a brief description of each:

Budweiser Family

Budweiser - Brewed and sold since 1876, "The King of Beers" is the largest-selling beer in the world. Budweiser has been the world's best-selling beer since 1957, and is distributed in more than 70 countries. Budweiser leads the U.S. premium beer category, outselling all other domestic premium beers combined. In fact, one in almost every five beers sold in the United States today is a Budweiser.
Bud Light - Introduced nationally in 1982, Bud Light is brewed with a malt and hops ratio different from Budweiser for a distinctively crisp taste with fewer calories. It became the country's No. 1 light beer in 1994, and has grown at a double-digit pace for the past eight years.

Bud Dry - Introduced in 1989, the first Dry-Brewed beer produced by an American brewer. The lengthier brewing process results in lighter body and less-sweet taste, with fewer calories than Budweiser.

Bud Ice - Introduced in 1994, Bud Ice is a smooth-tasting ice beer. Combined with Bud Ice Light, Bud Ice is one of the country's top-selling ice beers.

Bud Ice Light - Introduced in 1994, Bud Ice Light has fewer calories (only 112 calories per 12-ounce serving) than Bud Ice.

Michelob Family

Michelob - Super-premium Michelob was developed in 1896 as a "draught beer for connoisseurs." Michelob is brewed with a superior ingredient blend for fuller body with a clean finish, using all imported hops and a high percentage of two-row barley malt.

Michelob Light - Introduced in 1978 as the country's first super-premium light beer. Brewed with a high percentage of two-row barley malt and all imported hops to make this Anheuser-Busch's most flavorful light beer.

Michelob ULTRA - Michelob ULTRA is a smooth, refreshing lager with 95 calories, 4.2 percent alcohol by volume and 2.6 grams of carbohydrates per 12-oz. serving. Michelob ULTRA is brewed using the finest pale two-row and Munich six-row barley, select grains, all-imported hops and a pure cultured yeast strain. The special choice of grains, combined with the extended mash process, produces a smooth, refreshing beer with fewer carbohydrates.

Michelob Honey Lager - Anheuser-Busch brewmasters combine two-row and caramel barley malt, a blend of imported and domestic hops, and a touch of honey to produce a full-bodied, slightly sweet beer. The balanced, floral character of this beer goes best with soups and sandwiches.

Michelob Amber Bock - An American-style bock beer with a rich, malty and smooth taste that is hearty and full-bodied, yet finishes cleanly. Anheuser-Busch introduced this premium-plus beer nationally in 1995. Best served with grilled, barbecued and German-style foods.
Michelob Golden Draft - Introduced in 1991 and distributed in select U.S. markets. Unique bottle and can packaging features exclusive faceted edges.

Michelob Golden Draft Light - Also made its debut in 1991 and was Anheuser-Busch's first entry into the clear-bottle, packaged-draft market.
Specialty Beers

Tequiza surpassed established brands to become one of the four best-selling high-end beers in supermarkets, where micro, import and specialty segments all compete.

Alliance Partner Products

Redhook Ale - As part of an equity investment in the Redhook Ale Brewery in Seattle, Anheuser-Busch wholesalers have distributed Redhook's superior microbrewery products since 1994 in select U.S. markets. Brands include Redhook Extra Special Bitter (ESB) Ale, Ballard Bitter Ale, Blackhook Porter and Wheathook Ale, among others.

Widmer Brothers - Anheuser-Busch expanded its participation in the microbrew segment by signing a distribution and equity agreement with Widmer Brothers Brewing of Portland, Ore., one of America's leading microbrewers. The alliance allows Anheuser-Busch to expand its participation in the craft/specialty beer segment while providing Anheuser-Busch wholesalers with a unique set of beverages to sell in their local markets.
